It was never you, and not the game
A woman messaged me last season about her son's last home game. He looked up into the stands and she was in the kitchen, loading a dishwasher she did not need to load, and she told me she felt like the worst wife and mother alive. She wasn't, and neither are you. The feeling that takes you over the second the season starts is not you loving them less. You go quiet in your own house, you snap at kids you would lay down your life for, and you can stand in a loud, packed room and feel completely alone in it.
None of that is a character flaw. It is a body that has run all the way out of calm.
