The folder of things you tried
Dana kept a folder in her Notes app. She had named it things tried instead of wine. Sparkling water in a nice glass. Two adaptogen drinks, one that tasted medicinal and one that tasted like expensive nothing.
A stretch of hot tea she calls, accurately, aspirational. And a Health-Ade kombucha she bought during her last sober-curious wave, still in the fridge five weeks later. The ambition was real. The follow-through was not.
"I kept thinking I'd drink it when I felt like a kombucha," she said. "I never felt like a kombucha. I felt like the thing wine does." The whole sober-curious industry was built to fill that 6pm slot. For Dana it kept filling the shelf instead of the need.
