The instinct was always right
Start with why the reach makes sense, because no one has told you the honest version. All day your body spends GABA, its own calming signal, on every deadline and every transition, and by evening there is almost none left to flip. A tired nervous system does the rational thing. It reaches for the fastest calm it can find.
Wine answers because it turns the GABA-A lock directly, the exact lock your body ran out of the key for. The first sips work for a real reason, and none of it is imagined. In my clinic I say it plainly. The reach was never the flaw.
The key was. So the useful question is not how to want the glass less. It is why the calm it gives never survives the night.
