It was never the game
By the second quarter there was a band pulled tight across my chest and my shoulders were up around my ears, over a game I do not even watch. The wired feeling was not me being dramatic. It was a nervous system that had run all day and had nothing left to come down on once the house finally went quiet. So the move was never to white-knuckle through the noise or wait for the season to end.
It was to hand the off-switch its signal back from something that does not cost me the next morning. That is a different problem than just trying harder to relax.
