You did everything right
Years of yoga, meditation, and therapy never moved the stress, and after a while the quiet conclusion sets in that the failure must be hers. It is not. When a chart reads just stress, try yoga, lifestyle modification, the body underneath never actually gets tested before the line is written. So the practice was asked, in good faith, to do a job a regulating practice was never built to do alone.
None of it was a half-effort. The effort was real and the years were real, and what was wrong was the layer the instruction aimed it at. The want underneath all those years was plain. To stop waking at 3am, to have the fog lift, to feel the edge come off the evening without white-knuckling it.
The effort was never the problem. The instructions were written for the wrong layer. What that wrong layer actually is comes next, and once it is named, the reason the symptoms held all this time finally makes sense.
